Caged Minds! what a twisty-mystery!

Caged Minds by David Pyle is a Mystery-suspense story with a large cast of interesting characters, and each one is very well written. The rich dialogue and banter between them is really what grabbed me, and where the story thrived the most for me. Each character's motives are subtlety revealed if you pay attention, but it'll leave you feeling uncertain all the way through. I couldn't put it down. Who do you trust when everyone seems to be out only for themselves?

There wasn't a whole lot of action in this story, but plenty of suspense and tension between all the characters. It constantly left me wondering who was going to snap first.

How was it written: The book switches back and forth between the different character perspectives quite often in a unique narrator/third person way, and tends to change scenes a lot too, which took me personally a little bit to get used to at first; but it wasn't confusing and flowed well, bringing each character to life.

I also noticed a neat, but subtle underlying theme about human nature, heroism and even a little bit of patriotism, that definitely makes you think...It really made me think about how: our sinful nature is selfish and self severing, and even the good things we do can be self serving. And when everyone around you is doing wrong, what will you choose to do? because doing right often goes against the grain.

If this book sounds like something you'd like, Id give it a try!

as for the plot: 4 strong-willed journalists/reporters and a camera man, who despise each other, are bribed or blackmailed into staying together in the same suite inside a giant hotel by a mysterious employer. Every day, a letter is delivered to their room, telling them what they have to do. Then all of a sudden the hotel is taken over by a mad-man and a bunch of hired gunman. the police surround the building and everyone is trapped inside. Then someone is murdered and the group is told to go and investigate, even if it means putting their lives on the line. From that point on, it quickly becomes a twisty game of trust as they are forced to work together to stay alive and escape. But trust isn't easy as they begin to wonder if someone in their own group is involved somehow.

A Captivating storyline that is attention grabbing throughout. Very descriptive painting the images in your mind with very strong characters. A handful of grammatical errors that I feel I should mention, didn't affect story though. Filled with suspense, murder, news, secrets, blackmail biological warfare, journalism, terrorism, betrayal and lies. A massive congratulations to the author for writing quite a long book that keeps you hooked throughout, alot of longer books easily lose my attention half way through but this one was action packed throughout. Recommend to fans of mystery, suspense and anyone who enjoys a good read! A highly talented author xx
