Great read. Even the 2nd time through. Character development, thought provoking. I really enjoyed it and I'm thinking of picking up all the stuff by Hale and make it a read-through... WATCH OUT FOR INJUNS!!!

Solid prose that left me wanting more. The characters were relatable and real. Dressler's back story was brought up but never fleshed all the way out, however. I'm sure comparisons to the last several seasons of The Walking Dead are often at the front of reader's minds durring this one, but that would be the logical state of the world in a "just-after apocolypia" scenario. All in all, I enjoyed the story if briefly. I knocked it out in three sittings. I'd love to see a full length novel from this author. Publishers; hurry up and plant an advance in front of his typewriter.
Frankly, if you like good horror, you are in for a big surprise. A very boring book that is hard to stay with. I kept waiting for it to get better. A big disappointment.
Hale does an excellent job capturing the spectrum of human emotion as people deal with crisis. The reader experiences the adrenaline rush with each turn of the page.
